Job Description

CCP is looking to add an experienced social media and community development specialist to its Community team to support the growth of the EVE: Valkyrie player-base. Working alongside the tight-knit dev team in our Newcastle (UK) studio, the Community Developer will focus on creating a community framework for EVE: Valkyrie during the alpha and beta phases of production, and will then move to support the growth and development of the community into release and beyond. The successful candidate will also be an enthusiastic advocate for VR, and will be well versed in current and upcoming VR technology, with a demonstrable history in community development and the ability to foster a solid core community for CCP’s award-winning VR game. Experience with public speaking and consumer product demonstrations is a plus.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the EVE: Valkyrie development team to bring forward community feedback and suggestions.
  • Working with Quality Assurance and Development to bring EVE: Valkyrie through both alpha and beta phases, and into release.
  • Assisting with the organization and management of the EVE: Valkyrie alpha and beta programs.
  • Developing a solid social media presence for EVE: Valkyrie.
  • Working with the rest of the Community team to develop EVE: Valkyrie’s community under the same successful formula that maintains vibrant communities for both EVE Online and DUST 514.
  • Establishing and growing a solid core community for EVE: Valkyrie.
  • Identifying trends and patterns in community behavior with a view to utilizing them for growth.
  • Maintaining an overall positive sentiment among the community with clear, concise and solid messaging.
  • Working with the Community and Development teams on a solid tournament and e-sports program for Valkyrie pilots.
  • Coordinating with Development to provide updates to the community regarding ongoing feature work and future plans for development.
  • Acting as a spokesperson for CCP and EVE: Valkyrie at consumer trade shows and media events.
  • Fostering the nascent online VR community as a whole by acting as an advocate for the technology.
  • Working with the Community team to highlight and promote active community contributors.


  • A minimum of two years of experience in a community development or community management role, with relevant qualification in the field.
  • Solid knowledge of all mainstream social media outlets including Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch.
  • Experience with social media campaigns and the ability to identify trends in community behavior and monitor relevant KPIs.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Highly developed communications skills, excellent dependability and a professional work ethic.
  • Ability to travel as required to represent EVE: Valkyrie and CCP at various trade shows and industry events.
  • Ability to work both as an individual, and as part of the global CCP Community team, which also provides worldwide community support for EVE Online and DUST 514.
  • Strong interest in VR and a passion for gaming.
  • Solid knowledge of currently available VR platforms and upcoming developments in the field.
  • Solid knowledge of CCP’s existing player community, along with their motivations and passions.
  • Proven track record of organizing player focused events with high levels of player engagement.
  • Well-developed knowledge of CCP’s history with community engagement and company approach to player empowerment.
  • Proven track record of metrics analysis from organized events, and provision of recommendations for improvements and iteration.
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.
  • Willingness to relocate to Newcastle, England.

Advantageous skills:

  • Long term experience managing online communities and gaming clans, with background in content creation and publishing.
  • Fluency in a second language other than English, with a preference for German, French or Russian.
  • Well-developed knowledge of CCP’s existing products, including EVE Online, DUST514, EVE Valkyrie and Gunjack

starting salary of GBP 23,000 p/a
