Job Description

Creative VISUAL EFFECTS SUPERVISOR for world’s first holographic feature production.

About 12th Battalion Productions

We’re a small company based in North West London including a former member of the Oscar-winning VFX team behind Gravity and The Golden Compass, a Grammy-nominated music producer.

We’ve decided we want to change the way live performance is presented across the world, using a combination of traditional visual effects and non-traditional projection techniques.

Symphony to a Lost Generation

To this end, we’re producing Symphony to a Lost Generation, the world’s first fully holographic dramatic work, featuring a cast of 200 actors and dancers and 250 musicians, to tour small theatres across Europe with some of the biggest names in performance (all appearing to be live, all recorded).

It’s a low budget project with a phenomenally skilled and passionate team behind it, and counting a theatre impressario (specifically, an early investor in Cats and Starlight Express) among its backers.

Its subject matter is the First World War’s place in our present. The work seeks to make use of layered projection to allow never-before-seen spectacular events to occur on a theatrical stage. The work makes extensive use of digitally built environments and green screen.

  • Determine, modify and maintain the most effective and efficient technical approach and workflow possible.

  • Conduct daily reviews with Visual Director as final quality control on all deliveries of material.

  • Eliminate potential problems in pipeline tools before they impact on production

  • Assist in the recruitment of VFX artists to ensure the right fit, skills and experience required for the project

Essential Skills:

  • A thorough understanding of the entire visual effects process and the ability to interpret the artistic brief from the Visual Director

  • The ability to review other artists' work and ensure a high standard both artistically and technically

  • Creativity, both artistic and technical
