Job Description

Key Purpose of the Job

This is an exciting role for someone who has solid experience in business application support and development, and of team management, who will take responsibility for the success of our Information Systems team.

The Information Systems team is currently made up of five dedicated developers. The team has the potential to grow as it undergoes rapid development and investment, fuelled by the opportunity to make significant efficiencies in our processes. The team are responsible for a wide range of business applications including HR &Recruitment systems, intranet, external website, company schedule and bidding documents. The successful applicant will be responsible for the strategic development and support for these and other projects.

Needs To Do

  • Manage a team of developers, analysts and support specialists.
  • Plan, oversee and direct software application implementation, including design, implementation, maintenance and upgrade schedules.
  • Allocate and schedule staff, set objectives and review their work.
  • Effectively and efficiently provide application assistance, support and cover to all DNeg users.
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager, Technology and Production departments.
  • Evaluate the functionality of the systems and consult users to ascertain whether needs meet requirements; test and modify systems.
  • Develop, motivate and retain staff within the team.
  • Provide the Operations Manager with reports and solutions on operational issues in the business.
  • Operate as the communication channel and feedback between the Information Systems team and the management group.
  • Keep up-to-date with new technology.

Needs To Know

  • Essential:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • Development experience with complex business applications
  • Data and process modelling ability
  • Understanding of relational databases and structured query language
  • VBA, Excel, MS Project, Sharepoint
  • Java
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Access / Select HR desirable but not essential

Needs To Be

  • Experienced in team management
  • Strong verbal and written communicator
  • Able to show evidence of managing effective communication between end users and development teams
  • Able to move between high-level design review and a “roll up sleeves”-type assistance across all phases of a project
  • Experience in a film/VFX production environment is not a prerequisite
