Black Tusk is looking for a Multiplayer Level Designer to design multiplayer maps for a future experience set in the Gears of War universe. Our ideal candidate possesses a mastery of multiplayer map design and layout, with a deep understanding of the relationship between level geometry and the creation of a balanced multiplayer shooter experience. This individual must demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a large cross-disciplinary team. They should be driven by a passion to build an industry-leading multiplayer experience.

- Own the design execution of engaging multiplayer levels from concept to building and tuning.
- Create in-engine prototypes of levels and gameplay ideas.
- Work collaboratively with art, animation, audio, engineering, and design to create memorable experiences.
- Take initiative in bringing parties together in order to execute the vision for the levels.
- Communicate and pitch the concept for multiplayer levels.
- Work with the Level Design Lead to create metrics and standards for play.
- Collaborate with the game designers, to use our gameplay systems smartly and find inspiring ways to make the game/level shine.
- Incorporate feedback from playtests and user research.

- Must have 3+ years of experience in video games with at least one shipped title.
- Extensive experience hands-on developing multiplayer levels for a first-person-shooter or third-person-game. Experience with cover mechanics ideal.
- Mastery of 3D level design tools (UnrealEd, Kismet, Maya, Max, Hammer, Radiant or similar 3D editor).
- A passion for multiplayer gaming.
- Strong practical understanding of physical and architectural spaces, Bachelor’s degree in Design, Art or Architecture preferred.
- Previous experience and interest with a gameplay scripting language or high level programming language. Some artistic background, formal or otherwise, 2D or 3D, is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the game development process.
- Works well under deadlines and has strong verbal and written communication skills.
